Model: F36050 The Star 36050 is a Refractor type telescope. A refractor telescope uses a glass lens as its objective. (The part of the telescope that gathers the light, called the objective) The glass lens is at the front of the telescope and light is bent (refracted) as it passes through the lens.
Refractor type telescopes have 3 main advantages:
1. They are rugged. After the initial alignment, their optical system is more resistant to misalignment than the reflector telescopes.
2. The glass surface inside the tube is sealed from the atmosphere so it rarely needs cleaning.
3. Since the tube is closed off from the outside, air currents and effects due to changing temperatures are eliminated. This means that the images are steadier and sharper than those from a reflector telescope of the same size.
The body of the telescope is constructed of sturdy metal and there are 2 lens, a 6mm 60 x lens and a 20mm 18x lens. A 1.5 magnifier extension is included that converts the 6mm lens to 90x and the 20mm lens to 27x. Comes with a table-top tripod stand with altitude and azimuth mounting. A lens cover for the telescope and plastic containers for the extra lenses are also included. |
