Assisted opening knives are the hottest knives on the market. With a flip of the index release that sticks out of the back the handle or the thumbstud on the blade, the blade is released using the spring inside. Because of the manual pressure applied and the lack of a push button to release the spring, assisted opening knives fall outside the federal definition of switchblade.
